I don’t think people fully understand what it means to stumble into someone’s art and realize they’ve quietly been rebuilding pieces of you the entire time.
That’s what Donnie has been for me.
I found her completely by accident, which honestly feels very on brand for the universe. One random moment. One piece. One “oh I’ll just look for a second” situation that turned into me emotionally attaching myself to jewelry like a tiny glitter-covered crow with adult responsibilities.
But it’s more than jewelry.
It’s identity. It’s ritual. It’s tiny wearable reminders that softness and power can exist in the same breath.
Every single piece feels like: “Here. You survived something. Wear this.”
And slowly, piece by piece, she transformed the way I saw myself.
Not in the dramatic influencer “this changed my life” way where someone cries into a ring light while holding tea. I mean genuinely. Quietly. In the real way. The way art sneaks into your nervous system and starts rearranging the furniture.
I started carrying myself differently. Dressing differently. Taking up space differently.
There’s something deeply healing about finding an artist whose work feels like they reached directly into your brain and said: “Oh. I know exactly who you are underneath all that exhaustion.”
And the craziest part? Most people will just see “a jewelry piece.” They won’t see the confidence stitched into it. The comfort. The armor. The tiny spark of selfhood you put on before walking into a hard day.
Some people collect things. Some people collect versions of themselves they were finally brave enough to become.
That’s what this has been for me. One jewelry piece at a time.
